Need some answers pleaseeee. Girl issues.?

So here's the situation (ill try to keep this as short as possible): Ive known this girl for a little while, a couple years, but really didn't see her that often and wasn't really great friends with her, but i knew her, and he other night we saw each other for the first time in a while and we kind of hit it off quick. And the next thin you know: we kind of were getting pretty cozy with each other (kissing, holding hands, etc.), and due to her and my strict catholic beliefs, we kind of had no option but to go out after that. And it went well except we didn't see each other for a couple days, but did see each other today, and we were talking and having a great time talking to each other, and her dad and mom really like me and everything, and she said she really liked me, but she had a friend that i guess didn't like the idea of us going out or something, so she said she just wanted us to be really good friends for now, and we would "know when the time is right", and she told me to come to her swim meet friday. I don't know if she was trying to break up with me softly or if she seriously meant what she said, and if so, then whats the deal with her friend? Any advice/info i may be issing would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. :)
