Is this version of heaven a disturbing one for most people...?

I think your vision of Heaven was beautiful, so I must say you shouldn't be alarmed. My idea of Heaven is that it shifts to be whatever the person who died wants it to be; for some, it's an endless buffet, for others, it's a quiet beach, and for still others, it's a society of all friends and family. So, if that's what you want to go to, by all means, feel comfortable going there.
