How to mount a lens for a canon 60d camera?

LOL I read the instruction manual and searched for youtube videos and I still can't figure out how to do this right, oh and it's a 18-55mm lens. Please excuse me if I sound stupid~ It told me to match the dots on the camera and lens and turn the lens clockwise. NOT working. How do I do it right??
