How do I keep from appearing to be a lenient boss?
I feel that I am a reasonable boss. I am not emotional and do not rant and rave when there are problems with staff, like other managers. But I work with my staff to keep from having the problem happen again or discipline the employee as necessary. A little background: I have several good (perhaps not great) managers that work for me. I feel that they are hard workers and have medium to high level of productivity. My managers have staff that work for them. There is an audit team that reviews my managers and staff for errors in their work. When there are errors or problems with my staff, the audit team expresses that I am too lenient of a boss, regardless of how the problem is handled. Moreover, the focus is on the one or two problems and not the amount of other work that goes unnoticed and was done correctly. How do I keep from appearing to be too lenient of a boss? Any advice you can offer is appreciated.
