Can you be republican and think for yourself,like Specter and Powell?

Since Rush Limbaugh constantly rips any "moderate Republican" and even whips conservatives that he likes if he perceives them straying even slightly, even for a minute -- I'd say a new party is brewing. Who will they be? I have a feeling they will look a lot like what Ron Paul did minus stormfont racists.
