BOATS TO AND FROM CYPRUS?

I wish to travel from Turkey in June to Cyprus, then on from there to Egypt...does anyone know if there are boats and where to board them? I remember once going by boat overnight to Egypt from Cyprus but it was a package tour from the hotel and these days I never use the hotels or packages, prefer to make my own way around - any info at all would be much appreciated. Even cargo ships would be a welcome mode of travel. thanks
